The 70-meter-long walkway was inaugurated in 2001 with a budget of more than 108 million of the old pesetas.
The footbridge serves as a junction between El Perelló and El Perellonet.
Before it, to go from one shore to the other of the Swamp, it had to be done by crossing the floodgates or the road.
